Every piece of PRASKA furniture and every bed goes through a long journey before it goes on sale. It starts with watching cats, then comes the design, the prototype, weeks of testing in catteries, and further refinements. Only then does a product join our range.
I very often hear the question: "Where do your product ideas come from?"
The answer is always the same.
Not from interior design catalogues. Not from current trends. And certainly not from ready-made designs.
Every PRASKA product starts with... a cat.
I've been breeding pedigree cats for more than 14 years.
Every day I watch where they sleep, how they rest, how they climb, where they like to hide, and how they resolve conflicts among themselves.
Cats are my biggest source of inspiration. I don't design what people like. I design what cats actually want to use.
Once an idea comes together, I put together a first product design. Even at this stage, I ask myself a lot of questions.
If the answer to any of these is "no", I go back to the drawing board.
Only then do we make the first sample. But it's still not a finished product. It's only the beginning of the whole process.
This is a stage most customers never see.
We send finished prototypes to pedigree catteries, including Maine Coon breeders. There, for several weeks - often even a month or two - the products are used intensively by cats.
Breeders send us their feedback. We check: does the cat use the product willingly, does it come back to it every day, are the dimensions right, does the construction stay stable, is it worth making further changes.
This is the stage that generates the most adjustments.
Very often, the first design isn't the final one.
We change the dimensions. We refine the proportions. We modify the construction. We look for better solutions.
Not because something was wrong. Because there's always a way to make something even better.
Once we're confident a product meets both our standards and breeders' expectations, only then does it appear in the shop.
That's why a lot of people say PRASKA products feel polished. Because before they reach a cat's owner, they've been checked by the most demanding testers there are. Cats.
We don't manufacture furniture or beds to stock. Every product is only made once an order comes in.
The owner chooses the plywood colour, fabric, fur and finish themselves. That means they get a product made specifically for their cat, not a random piece pulled off a warehouse shelf.
One principle has guided me since PRASKA began. I'm not interested in producing thousands of identical pieces of furniture.
I'm interested in creating products that will serve cats for many years.
That's why every new design follows exactly the same path. From watching a cat... through design, prototype and testing... all the way to a finished product.
