Stable nests (the AURA, ORBIT, NEST, SAD, FOREST, GARDEN, and AQUA models) are filled with silicone fibre - they hold a fixed shape that doesn't change under a cat's weight. The raised edge gives a headrest and a gentle sense of shelter from the sides, while keeping the bed open - a cat gets in and out freely, without needing to squeeze through a narrow opening.
