What is a PRASKA wall-mounted cat tree made of?

Every tree is built from parts that belong to the same materials system:

• Frame and branches - 18 mm birch plywood, CNC-cut. Thick enough to stay rigid under a cat weighing over 10 kg.
• Wood finish - pet-safe oil or varnish, free from formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
• Branch beds - upholstery fabric chosen at order stage, removable for washing. Available in 35 × 35 cm, 50 × 35 cm and 75 × 35 cm.
• Scratching surfaces - replaceable felt, self-adhesive or sewn, lasting 12-24 months with daily scratching.
• Fitting set - drilling template and instructions included, mounted with wall plugs.

Replaceability is the whole point. When the felt wears out, you buy a new felt panel, not a new tree. When a bed gets dirty, you take off the cover and put it in the washing machine. You never replace the whole piece.

How to choose a tree for your home and your cat

Three things decide which model is right: the wall you have, your cat's weight, and how many cats you live with.

Available wall space

• Narrow wall (up to 60 cm wide) - Hornbeam or Hazel. A slim shape that won't take over the room.
• Standard living room or bedroom wall (80-120 cm) - Birch or Maple. Bold branches without overwhelming the room.
• Large wall or corner (120 cm+) - Oak, Oak 2 or Willow. A full climbing wall with multiple levels.

Your cat's weight

• Up to 6 kg (most breeds) - any model works without restriction.
• 6-10 kg (Maine Coon, Ragdoll, Norwegian Forest Cat, British Shorthair) - Birch, Maple, Oak, Willow. Wider branch platforms, more room to lie down.
• 10+ kg (large Maine Coons, Savannahs) - Oak or Willow. The widest platforms and the sturdiest build.

Number of cats

• One cat - Hazel, Hornbeam or Birch works well as a standalone piece.
• Two cats - Maple with its hollow (one cat inside, one on a branch), or Birch plus extra shelves to create a second route.
• Three cats or more - Willow or Oak as the base, extended with shelves, bridges and branches so each cat has its own escape route.

How to expand a tree into a full wall system

A wall-mounted cat tree is a starting point, not a finished structure. Every PRASKA piece connects with every other, and all of them come in the same six fabric collections (Patchwork, Garden, Love, Forest, Orchard, Aqua):

How is a wall-mounted cat tree fitted?

Fitting doesn't need a professional - just a drill and a spirit level:

• Solid concrete or brick wall - standard wall plugs, available at any hardware shop.
• Plasterboard wall - cavity fixings or plasterboard-specific plugs that spread the load over a wider area.
• Drilling template - included with every tree. Hold it against the wall, mark the points, drill, fit.
• Fitting time - 30-60 minutes per tree, depending on the model and the wall.

Once fitted, the frame sits rigid against the wall - it won't wobble, flex or come loose. The wall carries the load, not the piece itself, so even a cat weighing 12 kg landing on a branch won't shift the structure.

Personalise it - plywood colour and fabric

When you order any tree, you choose two things:

• Plywood colour - natural light birch, whitewashed, grey, black, or other shades depending on what's currently available.

How is a wall-mounted cat tree different from a simple wall scratcher?

A tree is a multi-level, tree-shaped structure with branches, beds and scratching surfaces, not a single board or a sisal post fixed to the wall. It combines a scratching post, a lookout point, a hideaway and a climbing route in one piece.

How much does a tree weigh, and will my wall take it?

PRASKA trees weigh anywhere from a few kilograms to just over ten, depending on the model. A standard concrete or brick wall will take them without any issue. On plasterboard, cavity fixings spread the load - the fitting instructions cover both wall types.

Can I fit the tree myself?

Yes - a drilling template and instructions come with every tree. You'll need a drill, a spirit level and wall plugs suited to your wall. Fitting takes 30-60 minutes.

Which tree should I start with?

If you have one cat and a standard flat, Birch or Maple is a safe starting point: medium size, bold branches, with the option of a hollow on Maple. If space is tight, go for Hazel or Hornbeam. You can always expand later with shelves and bridges.

What happens when the scratching felt wears out?

You buy a replacement felt panel from the tree accessories section, self-adhesive or sewn. You fit it without taking the tree down. One felt panel typically lasts 12-24 months.

Can the branch beds be washed?
