10 things cats have taught me over 14+ years of breeding

When someone asks me where the ideas for PRASKA products come from, I always answer the same way.

Not from catalogs. Not from trends. Not from the internet.

They are created every day in my cattery.

For over 14 years, I have been observing pedigreed cats. I see how they rest, how they raise kittens, how they resolve conflicts, how they choose places to sleep, and which products they truly accept.

It is thanks to them that I have learned things I never found in any book.

1. A cat always chooses what is comfortable for it

Over the years, I have repeatedly verified that cats cannot be fooled by the attractive appearance of a product.

If a bed is uncomfortable, too small, or poorly shaped, the cat will simply choose another place. Even if it is just a plain cardboard box.

That is why when designing, I always first think about whether the cat will want to return to the product every single day. Only later about how it looks.

2. The cat is the most demanding tester

In my cattery, there is no room for guesswork.

Every new product goes to the cats first. I don't judge it by photos. I observe the behavior. Does the cat return? Does it sleep in it daily? Does it choose it instead of other places?

If the answer is "no", I go back to the drawing board.

3. Height truly changes the feline world

Over the years, I noticed a certain regularity. If a cat has a choice between a bed on the floor and a comfortable place up high, it very often chooses the height.

Not because it is running away. But because it can calmly observe its surroundings.

It is from this observation that the first PRASKA walls were born.

4. Every cat has its own character

There is no product perfect for everyone.

In my cattery, some cats love cat caves. Others choose open beds. Some sleep high up. Others prefer the windowsill.

That is why I design products so that the cat has a choice. Because it knows best what it needs.

5. Stability decides everything

One of the first things Maine Coons taught me is that a cat will not accept unstable furniture.

If a shelf bends, creaks, or moves during a jump, it very often stops using it.

That is why I place such great emphasis on the construction and installation method.

6. A cat needs to fulfill its natural behaviors

Over years of observation, I have noticed that a cat needs more than just a bowl and a bed every day.

It needs to climb. Observe. Scratch. Hunt. Hide. Rest.

That is why when designing every new product, I ask myself one question: Will this design allow the cat to behave naturally?

7. The best ideas are born during observation

I don't remember a design that was created because I sat in front of a computer and decided to invent something.

Most ideas appeared during daily life with cats. Sometimes it was enough to notice that they all chose the same spot or used a product completely differently than I had planned.

It is they who suggest further solutions to me.

8. The first design is almost never the last

Every new model undergoes many changes.

First, I test it in my own cattery. Later, it goes to breeders cooperating with PRASKA. Only after many weeks of observation and implementing corrections does it appear for sale.

This is why I know we don't sell random products.

9. Fewer products often mean a better-designed space

Over the years, I have become convinced that a cat does not need ten random accessories.

A few well-planned spots that respond to its natural needs work much better.

A well-designed wall, a comfortable bed, and a proper scratching post can change a cat's daily life more than many random purchases.

10. I am still learning from cats every day

After over 14 years of running a cattery, it still happens that cats surprise me.

And that is precisely why PRASKA keeps evolving. Every new product is the result of further observations, conversations with breeders, and weeks of testing.

I believe that the best designs aren't created when we try to predict a cat's behavior. They are created when we carefully observe it.

It is never worth designing products solely for people. First, you have to understand the cat. Only then is the design created.
