Wall-Mounted Cat Trees

A wall-mounted cat tree is a scratching post shaped like a tree, fixed straight to the wall with no floor contact at all. Every PRASKA tree is CNC-cut from 0.7 in (18 mm) birch plywood, hand-sanded, and finished to your choice of plywood color and fabric collection. Models range from the compact Hazel to the full-size Willow, each with its own size, branch count, and mounting side.

Every model is named after a tree species. They differ in shape, number of platforms, and purpose, from a compact single-cat piece to a multi-level system for a whole household:

Which wall-mounted cat tree models does PRASKA make?

Model Size Best suited to Mirrored versions
Hazel Compact Small apartments, the first piece in a system, one cat No
Birch Medium Living room, bedroom - scratching post and lookout point in one No
Maple Medium, with optional hollow Cats that like to hide - the hollow works like a hideaway No
Oak Large, multi-level Multi-cat households, large breeds (Maine Coon, Ragdoll) No
Oak 2 Large, different silhouette than Oak An alternative to Oak - a different branch shape No
Willow Largest in the lineup A full climbing wall, multi-cat households Yes (L/R)
Willow CAT Largest, with CAT platform Cats that like to stretch out on wide platforms Yes (L/R)

Willow and Willow CAT come in left (L) and right (R) versions, so you can match the tree's orientation to the wall you're mounting it on. Willow can be paired with the optional Haven hammock.

What is a PRASKA wall-mounted cat tree made of?

Every tree is built from parts that belong to the same materials system:

  • Frame and branches - 0.7 in (18 mm) birch plywood, CNC-cut. Thick enough to stay rigid under a cat weighing over 22 lbs (10 kg).
  • Wood finish - pet-safe oil or varnish, free of formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
  • Branch beds - upholstery fabric chosen at checkout, removable for washing. Available in 14 × 14 in (35 × 35 cm), 19.7 × 14 in (50 × 35 cm), and 29.5 × 14 in (75 × 35 cm).
  • Scratching surfaces - replaceable felt, self-adhesive or sewn, lasting 12-24 months with daily scratching.
  • Hardware kit - drilling template and instructions included, mounted with wall anchors.

Replaceability is the whole point. When the felt wears out, you buy a new felt panel, not a new tree. When a bed gets dirty, you take off the cover and toss it in the washing machine. You never replace the whole piece.

How to choose a tree for your home and your cat

Three things decide which model is right: the wall you have, your cat's weight, and how many cats you live with.

Available wall space

  • Narrow wall (up to 24 in / 60 cm wide) - Hornbeam or Hazel. A slim shape that won't take over the room.
  • Standard living room or bedroom wall (31-47 in / 80-120 cm) - Birch or Maple. Bold branches without overwhelming the room.
  • Large wall or corner (47+ in / 120+ cm) - Oak, Oak 2, or Willow. A full climbing wall with multiple levels.

Your cat's weight

  • Up to 13 lbs (6 kg) (most breeds) - any model works without restriction.
  • 13-22 lbs (6-10 kg) (Maine Coon, Ragdoll, Norwegian Forest Cat, British Shorthair) - Birch, Maple, Oak, Willow. Wider branch platforms, more room to lie down.
  • 22+ lbs (10+ kg) (large Maine Coons, Savannahs) - Oak or Willow. The widest platforms and the sturdiest build.

From Izabela's workshop

How to design a space for a Maine Coon and other large breeds

A large cat isn't just a small cat scaled up - it needs different platform sizes, different spacing, and a sturdier build. Izabela talks through what to consider when planning a space for a Maine Coon or another large breed.

Number of cats

  • One cat - Hazel, Hornbeam, or Birch works well as a standalone piece.
  • Two cats - Maple with its hollow (one cat inside, one on a branch), or Birch plus extra shelves to create a second route.
  • Three cats or more - Willow or Oak as the base, extended with shelves, bridges, and branches so each cat has its own escape route.

How to expand a tree into a full wall system

A wall-mounted cat tree is a starting point, not a finished structure. Every PRASKA piece connects with every other, and all of them come in the same six fabric collections (Patchwork, Garden, Love, Forest, Orchard, Aqua):

  • Wall shelves - lookout points, resting spots, waypoints along the route.
  • Decorative branches - echo the shape of the tree and link it to other pieces.
  • Bridges and hammocks - connect a tree to a shelf, one tree to another, or a tree to your own furniture (a cabinet or bookcase).
  • Ceiling shelves - extend the route right up to the ceiling for cats that want the highest point in the room.
  • Ready-made shelf sets - a complete configuration, simpler than buying each piece separately.

The smallest setup is one tree, one shelf, and a connecting bridge. You can expand it anytime - there's no need to buy everything at once.

How is a wall-mounted cat tree installed?

Installation doesn't require a professional - just a drill and a level:

  • Solid concrete or brick wall - standard wall anchors, available at any hardware store.
  • Drywall - toggle bolts or drywall-specific anchors that spread the load over a wider area.
  • Drilling template - included with every tree. Hold it against the wall, mark the points, drill, mount.
  • Installation time - 30-60 minutes per tree, depending on the model and the wall.

Once mounted, the frame sits rigid against the wall - it won't wobble, flex, or come loose. The wall carries the load, not the piece itself, so even a cat weighing 26 lbs (12 kg) landing on a branch won't shift the structure.

Customize it - plywood color and fabric

When you order any tree, you choose two things:

  • Plywood color - natural light birch, whitewashed, gray, black, or other shades depending on what's currently available.
  • Bed fabric - six color collections (Patchwork, Garden, Love, Forest, Orchard, Aqua), each with its own palette and texture.

That's what keeps a cat tree from looking like something off a pet store shelf, and makes it a piece designed for your interior instead. If you already own other PRASKA pieces (shelves, beds, caves), order your tree in the same collection and the whole system stays visually consistent.

How is a wall-mounted cat tree different from a simple wall scratcher?

A tree is a multi-level, tree-shaped structure with branches, beds, and scratching surfaces, not a single board or a sisal post fixed to the wall. It combines a scratching post, a lookout point, a hideaway, and a climbing route in one piece.

How much does a tree weigh, and will my wall hold it?

PRASKA trees weigh anywhere from a few pounds to around 25 pounds (a few kilograms up to just over ten), depending on the model. A standard concrete or brick wall holds them without any issue. On drywall, toggle bolts spread the load - the installation instructions cover both wall types.

Can I install the tree myself?

Yes - a drilling template and instructions come with every tree. You'll need a drill, a level, and wall anchors suited to your wall. Installation takes 30-60 minutes.

Which tree should I start with?

If you have one cat and a standard apartment, Birch or Maple is a safe starting point: medium size, bold branches, with the option of a hollow on Maple. If space is tight, go for Hazel or Hornbeam. You can always expand later with shelves and bridges.

What happens when the scratching felt wears out?

You buy a replacement felt panel from the tree accessories section, self-adhesive or sewn. You replace it without taking the tree down. One felt panel typically lasts 12-24 months.

Can the branch beds be washed?

Yes - the bed covers come off and go straight in the washing machine. Replacement beds in three sizes (14×14 in / 35×35 cm, 19.7×14 in / 50×35 cm, 29.5×14 in / 75×35 cm) are available in the accessories section.

Will the tree hold a large cat?

Yes - 0.7 in (18 mm) birch plywood, mounted with wall anchors, transfers the load straight to the wall. Oak and Willow have the widest platforms and are built with cats over 22 lbs (10 kg) in mind. For smaller breeds, Birch or Maple is plenty.

What's the lead time?

Trees are made to order with your chosen customization. Some models ship straight from the workshop with no wait. For the rest, lead time depends on how busy the workshop is.
