Windowsill Bed

A PRASKA windowsill bed is a flat, soft pad fitted to the narrow surface of a windowsill - a spot cats choose entirely on their own, for the natural light, radiator warmth, and view outside. Available in 2 variants: premium faux fur (warmer, favored by heat-loving cats) and upholstery fabric (smoother, easier to keep clear of fur). Hand-sewn in Poland from certified materials tested in pedigree cat catteries.

A windowsill bed for your cat

The windowsill is one of the spots cats choose most often - and entirely on their own. Natural light, radiator warmth in winter, and a view outside mean most cats spend several hours a day there. A PRASKA windowsill bed turns a hard, cold surface into a comfortable spot for rest and observation - fitted to the width of the windowsill, and hand-sewn in Poland.

Why do cats choose the windowsill?

Watching the world go by from an elevated point is one of the most natural cat behaviors there is. A windowsill combines 3 things cats value: height (a view of the world from a safe position), sunlight (cats actively seek out sunny spots to sleep), and radiator warmth (during the heating season, the windowsill is one of the warmest spots in the home).

From my own experience in the cattery, cats choose the windowsill even when there's a comfortable cat bed on the floor of the room. The hard windowsill loses on comfort, but wins on location. The PARAPET bed solves that trade-off - it gives a cat a comfortable, soft surface exactly where they want to be anyway.

Two variants - faux fur or fabric

The PRASKA windowsill bed is available in 2 material versions. The premium faux fur variant is soft, warm, and especially popular with heat-loving cats - the fur retains body heat and encourages longer rest. The upholstery fabric variant is smoother, cooler to the touch, and easier to keep clear of fur day to day. Both variants are hand-sewn in Poland, from materials tested in pedigree cat catteries.

The choice comes down to your cat's preference and the season. Some owners order both variants and swap them in seasonally.

Safety by the window

A windowsill bed encourages a cat to spend time near an open window. That's why it's worth making sure the window is properly secured when you install it - a window screen or a sash restrictor. A cat absorbed in watching birds could lose their balance or make a reflexive jump. A PRASKA bed doesn't replace window safety measures, but its fitted dimensions mean it doesn't overhang the edge of the windowsill or destabilize a cat's position.

Does a windowsill bed fit any windowsill?

The PARAPET bed is designed to fit standard windowsill widths. It's worth measuring the width and depth of your windowsill before ordering.

How does a windowsill bed differ from a regular bed?

A windowsill bed is flat, and fitted to a narrow, rectangular surface. A standard cat bed - a nest or a pouf, for example - is round or oval, and sits on the floor or a shelf.

Which windowsill bed should I choose - faux fur or fabric?

Faux fur is warmer and softer - it works well for heat-loving cats and in the colder months. Upholstery fabric is smooth, cooler, and easier to keep clean of fur day to day. Both variants are the same price - you'll find the current price on the product page.

Does the windowsill bed need to be fixed in place?

The PARAPET bed sits on the windowsill under its own weight and your cat's. It doesn't need fixing down, but it shouldn't overhang the edge of the sill.

Can I choose the color of the windowsill bed?

Yes. Both variants - faux fur and fabric - are available in several colors to choose from at order stage.

Can a windowsill bed work as the only bed in the house?

It could, but a cat mainly uses a windowsill during the day - when there's light and a view. For nighttime, and for rest during darker hours, it's worth giving them an additional place to sleep, such as a stable nest or a den.
