Why a kitten needs a post of its own

A kitten scratches from its first weeks. A low structure lets it get up and down without jumping, and felt gives it a vertical and a sloping surface where it maintains its claws, stretches and leaves its scent. A kitten without a post of its own starts on the furniture.

The same size works for adult cats of lighter weight. The KOKARDKA scratcher is intended for kittens and cats up to 14.3 lbs (6.5 kg).

Plywood, felt and assembly

The structures are plywood, sanded by hand and given three coats of matte lacquer, which makes them easier to clean. Knots and marks in the wood stay visible.

The scratching surface is felt, not sisal rope. Peel the worn felt off and stick a new piece on, without replacing the whole piece of furniture. BABYSITTER comes with a spare felt already in the box.

Assembly is modular and takes a few minutes. You need no screws, no nails and no hinges, and the scratcher comes apart just as quickly, before washing the bed for instance.

For breeders

BABYSITTER, at 17.7 × 12.2 × 9.8 in (45 × 31 × 25 cm), fits inside a kitten playpen. The litter gets somewhere to scratch and play, and the breeder gets somewhere to sit while tending the kittens. The pieces in this category are designed by a pedigree cat breeder.

Customization and care

On the KOKARDKA scratcher you choose the fabric for the bed and the color of the plywood. On BABYSITTER you choose the plywood color.

Wash the plywood with warm water and wipe it dry; wood care products are fine as long as they contain no chlorine. The bed lifts off and washes at 86 °F (30 °C) or below, spin up to 800 rpm. It dries quickly and holds its shape.

How large a cat is the KOKARDKA scratcher for?

For kittens and smaller cats up to 14.3 lbs (6.5 kg). The tower is 9.8 in (25 cm) high, 26.8 in (68 cm) long and 12.6 in (32 cm) wide, and the bed measures 9.8 × 9.8 in (25 × 25 cm). For a bigger cat, look at the HOME scratcher or at our wall mounted pieces.

Does the scratcher need tools to assemble?
